Sintra Board

What is CNC Routing?
CNC routing is a precise, computer-guided cutting process that uses a CAD file to carve, shape, and engrave materials. CNC machines operate in three dimensions (X, Y, Z), but typically cut flat shapes on the XY plane. Small router bits (as tiny as 1/16″) allow for fine detailing and intricate designs.
We also support variable-depth carving using different tool heads, and can route areas to be paint-filled or use two-tone materials that reveal a second color when engraved—creating stunning visual effects.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride):
A cost-effective and versatile material. CNC routing ensures clean contouring for both indoor and outdoor sign applications. -
Sintra Board (PVC Foam Board, Komatex, Forex):
Lightweight and rigid, ideal for detailed signage and displays with a smooth finish. -
Foam Board:
Made of polystyrene or polyurethane, foam boards are lightweight and great for promotional signage. CNC routing allows custom shapes and text with ease. -
MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard):
Engineered wood with a smooth surface. Perfect for intricate engraving and dimensional sign elements. -
Wood:
Offers a natural look and can be carved, engraved, or cut into letters and shapes. Great for rustic and custom designs.
File Requirments
For CNC routing, you need a vector drawing with a cutting path. Accepted file types include *.dwg, *.ai, *.3dm, *.dxf, and *.eps, typically created using software like Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, Rhino, and others. Raster (image) files cannot be directly used for profile cutting. They need to be converted into vector files for quoting and cutting purposes. If you require help with this conversion, please let us know, and we’ll be glad to assist you.

File Requirments
For surface routing of three-dimensional objects, a 3D model is usually needed. However, if the cut depths only involve flat, pocketed areas, a 2D drawing is sufficient. If you have 2D drawings, we can help you create the necessary 3D model to bring your piece to life.
