Overview
What is MDF?
MDF (medium-density fiberboard) is an engineered wood made by binding fine wood fibers under heat and pressure into a dense, uniform panel. With no grain, knots, or voids, it machines to crisp, clean edges and takes primer and paint to a flawless, furniture-grade finish. That smoothness and consistency — at a lower cost than solid hardwood — makes it a workhorse for interior dimensional letters, logos, and painted signage. It’s an indoor material by nature: because it’s wood-based, it absorbs moisture and must be sealed carefully if used anywhere damp.
